WAS IT A BIG TAKE? A suggested classification for takes averaged over the length of the hole/stage is:

• A BIG take is greater than 1 bag of cement/ft [ 1 litre of cement/cm]
• A MODERATE take is between 0.3 and 1 bag/ft [0.3 and 1 litre of cement/cm]
• A SMALL take is less than 0.3 bags/ft [0.3 litres of cement/cm]

ASSESSMENT of the application after the grouting is finished is necessary to:

• decide whether the grouting has been satisfactory, particularly if there have been leaks or connections to other holes which may have impaired the quality of the grouting.
• decide whether a second application is advisable.
• decide whether extra, unplanned holes are necessary to compensate for deficiencies in the grouting or to deal with unforseen geological finds.
• detect problems which might warrant changes in subsequent grouting, and to enable accumulation of experience about the site.
